Soul Food Pavilion
Sunday dinners frequently held by Theaster Gates and his diverse collaborators and friends provide a forum where soul food can be consumed while its complex flavors and histories are discussed, questioned and celebrated. Guests from all backgrounds and places are invited to this lively communal dinner table where they openly discuss issues of race and inequality while sharing food, memories and performances.

While many of these events are held in the intimate space of Dorchester Projects, a speculative project in partnership with Kujawa Architecture is to build a separate pavilion designed especially for future soul food ceremonies and acts of neighborliness. The pavilion will begin construction March, 2011 and will be built by August, 2011.
